Horrible - they deleted my description of my experience My 16 year old daughter had an appointment at 4:20 at the Elberton, DMV to get her driver license. Something that is a milestone and an exciting time for any 16 year old. Most people understand this, as was evident by the crowd waiting in line who cheered for a girl that was called up and told she passed, as she jumped up and down. We drove an hour to get there, and checked my daughter out of school early to make it on time. When we arrived there were about 9 people ahead of us. (several were pairs). There were 2 people working behind the counter, and one Casey Echols, was also giving driving tests. The other woman apologized and said they had 4 workers out sick, and Casey had just got out of the hospital 3 weeks a week ago. She promised not to leave Casey until all the cases were finished, and apparently she was a sub from a different DMV and apologized Several men came in behind us, who just needed their CDL license or a renewal. After waiting an hour very patiently and hopeful, we were called up to the counter, by the more amicable of the two. She handed us the paper work to sign and said to have a seat and Casey would call us up. Casy called us up 5 minutes later, and proceeded to tell us that they were not allowed to give road tests after 5 pm, and it would take too long. We actually timed her on the road test she gave at 4:50. She left the office and 4:50 and returned at 5:01. This was obviously not all drive time if she was leaving the office at 4:50 and returning physically back in the office at 5:01. I asked her what time it was when she said they were NOT ALLOWED to go out after 5 pm, and she said it was 5:02. (2 minutes - no wonder government workers get a bad reputation). I explained we drove an hour to get there, and although we did arrive at 4:00, no one asked us if we had an appointment. The other woman had just told us that they gave our 4:20 appt to the person who had a 4:40 appt because he was there and had all his paper work, which we had all ours as well. I told Casey Echols that we were not told to arrive at 4, but we were there anyway in line by 4. She asked for the person's name who scheduled the appt which I obviously did not have(not thinking I would need proof of the DMV messing up). She said she couldn't do anything without that name. When I asked her what she would do if she had the name, she said they could bring it up at their next meeting. Then I asked for her name, which she reluctantly gave me. She wasted another 5 minutes talking to us, when she could have been giving my daughter the road test. She was extremely unfriendly to every customer I saw her deal with, but everyone was "walking on egg shells" so as not to anger her further and ruin any chances of getting what they needed accomplished. The ONLY reason we drove that far to get the driver license was because there were no appts available closer to us, unless we wanted our daughter to miss more school or wait several weeks to go to the extremely professional Between DMV. She offered to rescheduled us at that office, which was out of the question given our experience there. I would NEVER go to that office again, and I will make sure everyone I meet knows about it. Any professional office would have contacted the people with appointments and informed them that they were short staffed and might not we able to fit everyone in. I guess that is the key, they were not even close to professional. Casey does not have the people skills to handle difficult situations, and she obviously does not enjoy her job in any way. The last people in line were mother and son, who finally left on their own, which once again, a professional office would have announced the situation so people could make that decision based on facts before waiting an hour, instead of given the promise that they all would be served. In my opinion DDS would be doing their reputation a huge favor by closing that office all together.
